Is 4 Days Enough for Kashmir?
Yes — 4 days / 3 nights is the most-booked Kashmir plan for first-time travellers on a short holiday. You'll cover the three highlights Kashmir is famous for: Srinagar (Dal Lake + Mughal Gardens), Gulmarg (gondola + snow) and Pahalgam (Lidder river valley). It won't include Sonmarg or a houseboat night — for those, upgrade to our 5, 6 or 7-day plans. This itinerary keeps Srinagar as your base for all 3 nights, which cuts hotel-change fatigue.
Day 1 — Arrival in Srinagar (Mughal Gardens & Shikara Ride)
Meet & greet at Srinagar Airport (SXR). Transfer to your hotel and check in. Visit the famous Mughal Gardens — Nishat Garden (Garden of Bliss) and Shalimar Garden (Abode of Love). Time permitting, add Chashme Shahi (royal spring) and Pari Mahal (Prince of Fairies palace on Zabarwan hill). In the late afternoon, enjoy a 1-hour Shikara Ride on Dal Lake covering Char Chinar, the floating vegetable market fringe and lotus gardens. Evening free for local market shopping — Lal Chowk, Polo View or Kashmiri handicraft emporiums. Overnight in Srinagar.
Day 2 — Gulmarg Excursion (Gondola & Snow Activities)
Breakfast at hotel. Depart 8-8:30 am for a full-day excursion to Gulmarg (56 km, ~2 hours via Tangmarg). Enjoy the world-famous Gulmarg Gondola cable car — Phase 1 goes to Kongdoori (₹840/adult one-way) and Phase 2 to Apharwat Peak (₹1,150 additional). Gondola tickets are at your own cost — book online 1-2 days in advance to skip counter queues. Visit Strawberry Valley, Gulmarg Golf Course (world's highest at 2,650m) and Maharani Temple. Seasonal snow activities (skiing, sledging, snowmobiling) available December-March. Return to Srinagar by evening. Overnight in Srinagar.
Day 3 — Pahalgam Excursion (Lidder Valley & Optional Aru/Betaab)
Breakfast at hotel. Drive to Pahalgam (95 km, ~2.5 hours) via Pampore saffron fields (bloom in October), Awantipora ancient ruins and apple orchards. Reach Pahalgam by mid-morning. Optional local sightseeing by union taxi (union rule — outside taxis cannot enter): Aru Valley (11 km — pine meadows), Betaab Valley (15 km — Bollywood-famous), and Chandanwari (16 km — Amarnath yatra base). Enjoy the scenic Lidder River. Return to Srinagar. Overnight in Srinagar.
Day 4 — Departure from Srinagar
Breakfast at hotel. Check out. Transfer to Srinagar Airport for your departure. If your flight is post-lunch, we can add a quick Nigeen Lake or Hazratbal shrine stop en route (subject to time).
Hotel, Taxi & Meal Inclusions (What's Covered)
Standard 4D/3N package includes: 3 nights hotel accommodation in Srinagar (3-star / 4-star / deluxe as per plan), daily breakfast + dinner, all airport transfers and sightseeing in a private Sedan / Innova Crysta / Tempo Traveller (based on group size), driver + fuel + tolls, and 24×7 tour manager support. NOT included: airfare, gondola tickets, shikara ride (~₹800 per shikara), Pahalgam union taxi (~₹2,500-3,500), lunch, monument entry fees and personal expenses. Best Time to Book This 4-Day Plan
March-April: tulip season + almond bloom, mild weather (10-25°C). May-June: peak green season, best for families. July-August: monsoon-lite in valley, rafting at peak in Pahalgam. September-October: golden chinar, quieter crowds. November-February: snow season, ideal if you specifically want Gulmarg snow — book early because winter Gulmarg hotels sell out. April is our most-booked month for this itinerary.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a 4-day / 3-night Kashmir tour cost?
Prices start from ₹9,999 per person on twin-sharing with 3-star hotels, private cab and daily breakfast + dinner. Deluxe hotels or a houseboat stay push it up to ₹15,000-22,000 per person. Exact rate depends on your travel month and group size — WhatsApp us for a locked quote.
Is 4 days enough for a first Kashmir trip?
Yes, if you're happy covering Srinagar + Gulmarg + Pahalgam only. If you also want Sonmarg or a houseboat night, upgrade to 5 or 6 days. For families with kids or senior travellers, a 5-day plan is more comfortable.
Can I add Sonmarg to this 4-day itinerary?
Not comfortably — you'd have to drop either Gulmarg or Pahalgam. If Sonmarg is a must-see, choose our 5D/4N or 6D/5N plans which include it.
Is this itinerary suitable for senior citizens?
Yes, with minor adjustments. We recommend a 4-star hotel with an elevator, an Innova Crysta over a sedan for comfort, and skipping the Gulmarg Phase-2 gondola due to altitude (Apharwat is 4,200 m). Aru/Betaab in Pahalgam are gentle walks.
How many kilometres of driving is involved?
About 400-450 km total across 4 days. Longest single-day drive is the Pahalgam round-trip (~190 km). All roads are tarred and open year-round. In winter, add 1-2 hours buffer for Tangmarg-Gulmarg snow-clearance.
What airport should I fly into?
Srinagar International Airport (SXR). All major Indian cities connect directly. Book your return also from SXR. Jammu Airport is a distant 260 km — not recommended for a 4-day trip.
