Vaishno Devi Trek – What to Expect
The Vaishno Devi shrine is located in the Trikuta Hills at 5,200 feet. The trek from Katra base camp is 13 km one way. The well-paved path has rest stops, food stalls, and medical facilities. Most pilgrims complete the round trip in 10-14 hours. The path is lit at night, so you can trek at any hour. Ponies and palanquins are available for those who cannot walk. Battery cars cover part of the route. The shrine is open 24/7, 365 days a year.
Helicopter Option for Vaishno Devi
For those who prefer not to trek, helicopter services operate from Katra to Sanjichhat (near the shrine). The flight takes just 5 minutes and costs ₹1,800-2,400 one way. Helicopter tickets can be booked online through the shrine board website or we can arrange them in advance (subject to availability and weather). From Sanjichhat helipad, it's a 2 km walk to the shrine. This option reduces the total trek from 13 km to 2 km.
